Fortnite Sued Over 'stolen' Dances By Rapper 2 Milly, But Can You Copyright Choreography? But the likeness May Be.

Fortnite

Fortnite has got everybody, almost everybody, playing it. It is said to be that Epic Games made over $1 Billion selling trinkets, I meant emotes. One of these emotes is "Swipe It" and is sold for $5 to players who wants to perform the dance in the game. The rapper 2 Milly says it is the 'Milly Rock' dance.
The lawsuit, was filed on Wednesday over the alleged 'misappropriation, use and sale' of the dance 'Milly Rock' within the game. The rapper alleges that the Fortnite emote dubbed 'Swipe It', available during Season 5 of the hugely successful game, was an unauthorized recreation of his dance. The Swipe It emote is t available for purchase any longer. That does not stop owners of the emote doing the dance.
“This isn’t the first time that Epic Games has brazenly misappropriated the likeness of African-American talent. Our client Lenwood ‘Skip’ Hamilton is pursuing similar claims against Epic for use of his likeness in the popular ‘Cole Train’ character in the ‘Gears of War’ video game franchise, Epic cannot be allowed to continue to take what does not belong to it.” said partner at Pierce Bainbridge, David L. Hecht said in a statement.
Epic Games has been the focus of many a rappers and the singers. "Fortnite should put the actual rap songs behind the dances that make so much money as Emotes. Black creatives created and popularized these dances but never monetized them," said Chicago musician Chance the Rapper.
Donald Faison, who played Chris Turk in US medical comedy Scrubs, claimed that Fortnite 'jacked' his 'Poison' dance he performed ad-hoc on the show.
