The tuk-tuk was bought and imported from Thailand for this specific purpose. The project took over three years, from finding a Thai taxi to crossing the finish line at Nürburgring, according to Granturismo events.
Three years of extraordinary effort and heartbreak finally resulted in an all-time record of 31:49.46 for three-wheeled tuk-tuks around the Nürburgring's grueling 12.9-mile Nordschleife course. In case you're not familiar with this particular vehicle, a tuk-tuk is a three-wheeled vehicle often used as a taxi in southeast Asia and I am surprised at the results as in Thailand, the tuk tuk we rode, was basically flying, over taking cars, vans and trucks on very busy roads. By the way, sports cars do this track anywhere from 6.44min on wards.
Granturismo evens has the story!
